The Governing Body
The role of a Local Governing Body is an important one. It is to provide focused governance at a local level and it is the intention of The Trust that LGBs will have the highest level of autonomy appropriate to their Academy School. The LGB monitors the Academy’s development plan and key performance indicators. It acts as a critical friend to the Academy Head and Senior Leadership Team, offering challenge and support. The LGB carries out its duties on behalf of the Board of Trustees in accordance with policies determined by the Trust Board. The act of delegation from the Trust Board to LGBs is a delegation of powers and duties and not a delegation of responsibilities. The LGB will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and will implement any advice or recommendations made.
The Trust Board retains the right to review or remove any power or responsibility delegated to the LGB under this constitution and terms of reference, in particular, in circumstances where serious concerns in the running of the Academy School are identified, including where:
Where necessary, the Trust Board will put in place, for an appropriate period of time, an intervention board, who will be responsible for addressing the areas of weakness.
Governors have three core functions:

The structure follows that of the Standards and Excellence Committee and the Finance and Resources Committee set by the Trust. By operating within this structure it allows:
The current Chair of Governors is Mrs Avril Mattocks who can be contacted via email chair@wvpschools.org

If you would like to know more about the Governing Body please contact one of the Governors via the school office.
It is expected that Governors will attend LGB and Committee meetings throughout the year, however it is acknowledged that on occasions this is not possible and apologies will be accepted. It is the decision of the Governing Body that absence will not be consented to and will be recorded as such in minutes and The Consortium Multi-Academy Trust informed accordingly.
