Acorn Class

Dear Parents and Carers,

A warm welcome everybody I hope that you had a great summer break.

This term we will be learning about lots of topics and routines! The main focus will be on the process of farming and harvest. We also have two exciting changes that will occur in Acorns. This term, the children will be involved in Forest School, which will be taught by Ms Davies (who supports children over at Mendham Primary School).  A letter will provide all of the details regarding this exciting opportunity and will hopefully answer all of your questions!

Secondly, Mrs C Tilley will also be teaching the Acorn children on a weekly basis in the classroom accompanied on a regular basis by Miss Hardy.

A parent gathering will also be held at next Tuesday (10th September), in Acorn classroom straight after school. This is primarily for Reception parents/carers to discuss some important procedures that will be taking place this term.  If you cannot make it please let me know.

New starters

As you are aware already, starting school is a major step for the children and yourselves. I am sure there will be some mixed emotions for everybody which is normal.  Please do let myself or another member of staff know if you have any concerns about anything.

Tapestry update

As a trust the school is placing greater emphasis on home learning and values children learn at home as well in the classroom. Please support us by sharing your home learning, you can do this on Tapestry. If you are not aware of the Tapestry Learning Journal or are having trouble accessing photos and observations please let me know.

What your child will need on a day to day basis

Each day your child will need to bring; water bottles, diaries and reading books (reading books are issued to reception children). The children will also have weekly library slots.

We are also fortunate to go outside in all weathers, so please ensure your child always has a sunhat and a rain coat so that we can enjoy the elements safely!

It is also useful for your child to have a change of clothes (particularly underwear)

PE Sessions

The children in nursery and reception all join in weekly PE sessions. A list of what is needed is on the school website. Please keep your PE kit in school in case the day we have PE changes. This term PE will be taught on a Wednesday morning by Mr Hopkinson and Miss Hardy.

Nursery Parents

Please remember that if your child is entitled to 30 hours funding you must renew your application each half term. This is now done all electronically via the portal, please see Mrs Rogers or Sheri for more details.

Thankyou,

Mrs Mansfield
