Acorn Class

Dear Parents /Guardians,

Welcome back to our very last term before the summer holidays, may I take this opportunity to say how much we have enjoyed working with your children.  This term we will be learning all about the seaside.  It is a much loved topic and the children have already been enjoying the seaside themed resources around the classroom!

So far we have had a lovely time in the sand, enjoying number bond ice creams and putting on shows at our Punch and Judy theatre.  We will also be looking at; various coastlines across the world, the water cycle, seaside amusements, under the sea and over the sea to name but a few aspects of our topic!

Reception children will be participating in transition days were they will be introduced to the KS1 environment, including more focused activities where appropriate to enhance their learning.

Nursery 2 children will also be increasingly joining in with activities to help them become accustomed to Reception.  The main objective for this is to support them to increased independence.  A meeting will be taking place shortly regarding any queries you may have relating to your child starting Reception as well as a presentation explaining the delivery of EYFS framework.  Please refer to the transition letter for more details.

Nursery 1 children will not be experiencing too much transition, they have the privilege of enjoying another year in Acorns however, we will be covering different topics to increase their learning opportunities. Please be advised that due to new safeguarding regulations we do not encourage parents and guardians to enter the corridor.  Parents and guardians are welcome in the classroom to either support your child putting their belongings on their pegs or help them settle. However, through experience we have noticed it is best to leave promptly to relieve anxieties.  If there are any concerns regarding these matters please speak to Mrs Mansfield or Miss Hardy.

This term we continue to have Thursday morning as our allocated PE slot with Mrs Tilley. Please ensure your child is equipped with suitable footwear as they will be spending more time outside with visits to Hoxne playing field and the green area.  Please also note that Acorns will be participating in Sports Day, however, we will be joining Mendham School for our very own ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ themed activity. Details will be available promptly.

Library visits will continue to occur on Thursdays or Fridays.  Reading books are needed daily when possible so that they can be changed regularly.

Please do get in touch if you have any concerns.  I am also available via email at:
